About Jennifer Pedersen
Welcome to 7th grade literature and writing! This year, we will complete six essays and several oral reports. I recommended that students use a word processor to type their essays and reports, if possible. We will also be reading many famous literature selections during the year. In addition to the classroom stories we will read, students are expected to read chapter books on their own. Since most of my teaching is lecture and class discussion, it is very important that students only miss class if they are too sick to attend school. Students certainly must stay home if they are sick and contagious; however, they should not miss school for trips both near and far. If a student misses a day of school, they will be missing nearly ninety minutes of class time. Grades in literature and writing will directly correlate to attendance. Tardies are also unacceptable and will be dealt with through administration. All assignments are due when class begins on the due date, or on the day of return after an absence on the due date. Late assignments may be turned in the next day for half credit. No credit will be given for assignments turned in more than one day late. I do not accept any extra credit in my class. Students are expected to manage their time wisely and turn in all work when it is due. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to set up a conference with me. A good conference cannot be conducted on a drop-in basis. I need time to prepare grade sheets, sample work, or to observe behavior regarding a specific concern. Making an appointment is essential. I can be reached by calling the school at 688-4810, extension 121 or emailing me at jenniferp@solvangschool.org. » read more...
